How to Apply for Scholarships
The University of North Texas offers various scholarship opportunities to help you
finance your education. A scholarship is a financial award given to a student on the
basis of academic achievement and promise. Many scholarships are awarded based on
merit. However, some also take into account financial need.
Where to Start
- Apply and be admitted to a UNT program.
- Activate your MyUNT account.
- Create an account in the Eagle Scholarship Portal.
- Monitor your EagleConnect email account.

Information for New Students
New students must have an active EUID to complete the application. You can access
help with your EUID and/or password using UNT's Account Management System.
UNT is a selective university and does not guarantee admission of all applicants.
Submit the ApplyTexas Application by February 1 to ensure that all high school records, prior college records, and
entrance exams are current with UNT for scholarship consideration. ApplyTexas Applications
received after February 1 may not be complete in time for eligibility to be confirmed for scholarship opportunities using the Eagle Scholarship Portal. Admission to UNT does not guarantee a scholarship award.

Application Instructions
- Be prepared to provide essays, email contact for individuals providing letters of
recommendation, or other documents that may be required. These documents must be uploaded
to your online application prior to the scholarship opportunity deadline. The application
will state if letters of recommendation, essays, etc. are required for a scholarship.
All document attachments become the property of UNT and will not be returned.
- If you encounter problems or have questions about the Eagle Scholarship Portal, please view the Application Help and Frequently Asked Questions. Some users may experience slow website performance as the deadline approaches.
- If selected for a scholarship award, award notification will be sent to your EagleConnect account, UNT's official email service. Students are encouraged to monitor EagleConnect and
MyUNT for award information. Most awards are announced by late June.
Scholarship Requirements
- Maintain continuous enrollment and take the minimum required UNT Hours each fall/spring.
Most scholarships require at least full time UNT enrollment and completion of at least
24 UNT Hours annually if you have a renewable scholarship, depending on the first
term of your award (fall/spring or spring/fall).
- Maintain the minimum UNT GPA and plan and use UNT Learning Center resources to help with all your academic needs.
- Scholarship recipients not meeting renewal requirements will receive appeal guidance
via EagleConnect.
- Keep a copy of your Scholarship Award Agreement with your other important documents
so you can access and reference is easily.
Additional Information
According to Texas Coordinating Board Rules for Public Institutions of Higher Education,
relatives of University of North Texas board members may not receive certain scholarships
from the institution or system on whose board the member serves.
